Fleet Manager

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and manages purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles and equipment
  • Develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs
  • Manages the fleet expense reporting and budget
  • Partners with Safety Manager to ensure the fleet maintains compliance with all Federal and state regulations required for commercial vehicles
  • Oversee scheduling and dispatch of operations of fleet
  • Manage and implement processes to ensure fleet units are well-maintained and to code
  • Maintain vehicle registration, mileage, maintenance, and logs
  • Stays up to date on all vehicle safety, DOT, DMV, and related regulations and requirements
  • Manages fuel card program
  • Administer the driver qualification process for all drivers in coordination with the company’s DOT/FMCSA compliance program with the goal of maintaining compliance, improving safety, and avoiding DOT violations associated with driver qualification regulations.
  • Review current/future pre-employment screening process of driver candidates, and partner with HR, Safety, and operations to ensure they are DOT compliant and that all DOT qualification documentation is complete.
  • Maintain updated active driver lists and proactively work with Supervisors to ensure lists are accurate
  • Review driver motor vehicles records (MVR’s) as needed and provide subject matter expert advice on violations noted on the records
  • Prepare for any DOT audit activity
  • Notify Safety and supervisors of upcoming driver qualification document expirations, including medical cards and licenses. Obtain renewed documents, upload documents to compliance software system
  • Report compliance levels each period to leadership

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet related regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements and regulations
  • Requires 2-3 years’ experience working with DOT and FMCSA regulations and driver qualification files
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a professional office environment dealing with confidential and sensitive matters and documents
  • Experience in a DOT safety-related role strongly desired
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Word required
  • Travel up to 30% may be necessary
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others in an effective manner
  • Accurate & detail oriented
  • Valid driver’s license
